Don't be afraid to ask for help!

Whether you're new to ship modeling or a full-fledged expert, there's nothing wrong in seeking out help if you encounter a problem while modeling a ship. Take for instance John Oreskovich. New to the hobby, John recognized
that he needed some assistance - and he sought out help!

Rest assured, there are tons of resources out there for you! And, there are folks out there willing to help you to either get started or get past a sticking point. In addition to the resources at the top of our blog (Free Resources, Clubs, Videos), you should also check out the various forums available to you such as Model Ship World, Model Ship Builder, Ship Modeling Forum, and Ships of Scale - just to name a few!

Don't get frustrated! Don't give up! Don't be afraid to ASK for help! It's a tough hobby - but it's well worth it!

John's comments: I'm a new ship modeller who failed in his first attempt to build the Phantom tug (bad measurements on my part and a lack of patience). For the last several weeks I have been building the Model Shipways Sultana with help from Bill Daemke at Bridgetown Hobbies and the incredible kit that you allowed us to purchase for $80.

With Bill's help I have completed the hull, using Chuck Passaro's practicum to plank the sides from the wales and also planked the deck (it's not perfect but I'm extremely pleased with the results). I'm very excited and trying to talk my fellow classmates into tackling the  Model Shipways Syren for our next project.

Thank you VERY much for the opportunity and for producing a great kit. Thanks.

-John Oreskovich
